Tender Loving Care Disability Services Supports Jeans for Genes Day to Raise Awareness for Genetic Conditions

New South Wales, Australia – Tender Loving Care Disability Services proudly joined thousands of Australians in celebrating Jeans for Genes Day, an annual initiative that raises vital funds and awareness for children living with genetic conditions.

This year’s participation reflects Tender Loving Care’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, awareness, and action in support of individuals and families impacted by disability and medical conditions.

“Jeans for Genes Day is not just about denim. It is about standing together to support children and families whose lives are affected by genetic conditions,” said Maria Binny, National Business Development Manager at Tender Loving Care Disability Services. “In our work, we meet people every day whose lives are shaped by a diagnosis. We believe it is important to raise awareness and support research that can change those lives for the better.”

Why Jeans for Genes Day Matters

Jeans for Genes Day, organised by the Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI), is a national fundraising campaign that supports world-class genetic research. Each year, Australians are encouraged to wear denim and donate in support of children facing genetic conditions.

Genetic conditions can be caused by changes in a person’s DNA and may be inherited or occur spontaneously. These conditions can affect many parts of the body, and for some children, they can be life-threatening or require ongoing medical care. According to CMRI, there are more than 6,000 known genetic conditions, and one in twenty children is born with a genetic disease or birth defect.

Funds raised through Jeans for Genes Day contribute to CMRI’s research into diagnosing, treating, and ultimately curing genetic diseases. Their work covers a wide range of medical fields, from cancer treatments and regenerative medicine to new gene therapies that could transform patient outcomes.

Tender Loving Care’s Involvement

On Jeans for Genes Day, the Tender Loving Care Disability Services team proudly wore denim to work as a visible show of solidarity. The initiative was not only about what staff wore, but also about starting conversations. Team members shared information about the campaign, discussed the impact of genetic research, and encouraged participants, families, and community members to get involved.

Internally, the organisation used the day as an opportunity to educate staff about the importance of genetic research and its relevance to the disability sector. Many people living with disability are also living with a genetic condition, which makes the cause particularly significant to Tender Loving Care’s mission.

“We are committed to creating opportunities for understanding and connection,” Maria added. “Events like this allow us to contribute to something bigger while staying true to our values of inclusion, empathy, and respect. Jeans for Genes Day is a chance to show that as a community, we care about every child’s future.”

A Shared Vision for the Future

For Tender Loving Care Disability Services, participating in Jeans for Genes Day is about more than fundraising. It is about aligning with a broader vision where research and awareness work hand-in-hand to remove barriers for people living with disability and medical conditions.

By supporting initiatives like Jeans for Genes Day, Tender Loving Care reinforces its commitment to advocacy, education, and community action. The organisation recognises that real change requires collective effort from individuals, service providers, researchers, and policymakers.

Tender Loving Care plans to continue its involvement in awareness campaigns that foster inclusion and promote better health outcomes. The organisation believes that visibility, education, and active participation are essential in driving forward both social and medical progress.
